Aruba Insights

When I think of Aruba  I think of a great Island with friendly people and great place to visit and eat. We have visited Aruba many times in the last few years and I must say this is my favorite destination.

Some of the ins and out’s of Aruba.

Did you know that the water is safe to drink in Aruba. They have there own desalination plant so the water is very pure. I have drunk the water every time that I’m there and I have never gotten sick.

My favorite restaurants in Aruba but first I must tell you that whatever restaurant you eat in it will be a good experience.

Amazonia Churrascaria, an authentic Brazilian Steakhouse with a modern twist features friendly Brazilian gauchos carrying 3-foot long skewers stacked with a variety of grilled meats, to be carved tableside. The Restaurant was the first one of its kind, when it opened in 2000, and is still very popular with locals as well as visitors. Be sure to come hunger because they offer so much food.

El Gaucho

This is by far my favorite restaurant. It features Argentinean beef and the taste is to die for. El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at  80 Wilhelminastreet, it’s the first Argentine restaurant to open it’s doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977. If you get a chance please visit this restaurant and have the steak. I’m sure that you will truly enjoy it. If you can get a chance eat up stairs for a truly amazing experience. They do have elevators for anyone that need them. Oh yes reservations should be made two months in advance. I told you it is a popular place.

Madame Janette: I know this place is hard to find but the food and the service is excellent.

The kitchen staff prides itself on preparing most of the dishes a la minute and it features a specials menu. Steaks, grilled meats from the rotisserie, salmon and Chilean sea bass as well as local fish like mahi mahi and grouper, fresh pasta and a wide choice of appetizers are some of the choices you’ll find at Madame Janette’s. This is my Wife’s favorite restaurant in Aruba. Another place to have on your bucket list.

Iguana Joes:  What I like about this restaurant is it’s location. If you go there try and get a seat near the railing so that you have a great view of main street. I usually have lunch here but you can hae dinner as well. They offer Caribbean cuisine, the award-winning menu includes such favorites as Jamaican jerk chicken, fresh Caribbean fish, Cuban black bean soup, Trinidadian chicken curry and Mexican quesadillas, all served in a fun-casual eatery with a harbor view.

Seven-page menu with only one item over $ 20.00 (Surf ‘n Turf) features Igua-na-chos, the top selling appetizer, and such classics as coconut battered shrimp, Caribbean jerk chicken, and Argentine filet mignon as well as half-pound USDA Black Angus beef burgers.  Iguana Joe’s is the home of the legendary, deliciously smooth Pink Iguana.

La Trattoria: Talk about atmosphere this restaurant has it all. Overlooks the seashore and the golf course. You would want to have dinner there at dusk to really appreciate the view.

Perfectly located up the hill of Hudishibana right next to Aruba’s most visited and famous landmark, the California Lighthouse. La Trattoria El Faro Blanco is renowned for unsurpassed culinary masterpieces, years of experience in authentic Italian cuisine, and warm Aruban hospitality. Oh yea the food is great also.

Sunset Beach Bistro:

Dine right on the sand on the beachfront terrace of this cozy unassuming restaurant right on magnificent Palm Beach.  Enjoy a dazzling sunset or starry night skies as you listen to the soothing live music of saxophone or piano. Now if you want a romantic place to eat this is it. Hey guys you can make a lot of points with this dining experience. The food is always good.

These are some of our favorites restaurants in Aruba. Like I said pretty much anywhere you eat you will not be disappointed.

Places to stay

When we travel to Aruba we stay at the Marriott Beach resort. We just love it there and the service is real good. Hey it’s a Marriott what else do you expect.

The drinks at happy hour on the beach are pricy but good and the chicken wings are some of the best.

Another place that I would recommend is the Hyatt Resort. This place is beautiful and the ground are sensational. I haven’t stayed downtown but the Aruba Renaissance is a nice resort. I have toured this resort and it is very nice in the heart of downtown Aruba.

The resorts are in two location areas on Aruba one is Palm Beach which has the high rise hotels and the other is Eagle Beach which has low rise hotels. Both areas are very nice and you can do no wrong at either area. We always stay in the Palm Beach area because we like the high rise hotels.

You can’t go wrong selecting Aruba for your vacation destination.
